Pricing varies based on the level of the instrument, needs of the player, choice of pads, and severity of the damage. There is no charge for estimates or consultations.

All regular services, major services and overhauls include a 6-month warranty on parts and labour and a complimentary 30% discount on your next regular service within 18 months (terms and Conditions apply).

Has your sax had a recent accident? Southern Woodwind Workshop can repair any of the following (and more!)

  • Replacement and installation of individual pads, key corks, felts, etc.
  • Replace and fit new neck cork
  • Tarnish removal, polishing and cleaning
  • Adjust key timing/regulation
  • Spring replacement
  • Customization of spring tensions/key action
  • Close individual leaks.
  • Solder broken keys or other broken components.
  • Dent removal and body repair.
  • Key repair and re-fitting of loose keys.
  • Tighten loose neck tenons or fit aftermarket neck.

Annual maintenance on the sax to keep it in top playing condition. All regular and major services include a complimentary 30% discount on the next service within 18 months.

Regular Servicing includes (but is not limited to) the following:

  • All leaking pads sealed or replaced (Up to to 3 pads replaced included)
  • Clean pad surfaces and reduce pad noise as much as possible.
  • Replace missing/broken key corks/felts.
  • All slow-moving or bent keys repaired.
  • Expand neck tenon if required
  • Adjust key timing/regulation and remove lost motion/double play.
  • Lubricate keywork.


Student or intermediate alto and tenor saxophones: $240.00

Professional or vintage alto and tenor saxophones: $360.00+

All soprano or baritone saxophones: $300.00+

Recommended every few years to prevent scale/calcium build-up inside the sax and keep the internal mechanisms of the saxophone clean and functional. A Major service includes everything in the Minor service, plus:

  • Complete disassembly of saxophone. Remove all old oil and grease from rods and inside hinge tubes. Re-lubricate keys. Neck and body chemically cleaned, keys hand-cleaned without disturing pads.
  • Excessively loose keys re-fit/swaged.
  • Replace springs as needed (up to 3)
  • Minor dents removed.

A complete re-build and restoration of the saxophone, bringing it back to like-new mechanical and playing condition. Typically needed approximately every 10 years, depending on upkeep and use. An overhaul includes (but is not limited to) the following:

  • Complete disassembly of saxophone. Body, neck, and all keys chemically cleaned.
  • All mechanical and cosmetic damage repaired.
  • All pads, felts and corks replaced and installed.
  • All keys re-fit/swaged and toneholes leveled and re-finished.
  • Any requested customizations carried out e.g. key heights, spring tensions, resonator/pad choice.
  • Replace springs as required (up to 3 included)

Professional or vintage alto or tenor, all Baritone or Soprano saxophones: Estimate upon inspection only
